What Organized Traveling Is Like! – Organized Traveler

We all tend to forget something or the other while traveling or have had airport crisis, where a toiletry quite literally exploded in our bags. This has happened to most of us, frequent travelers or not. Doesn’t matter if the trip is business or leisure, and if you are traveling alone or in a group, being organized is the key. The following tips will make you a better organized traveler and will hopefully reduce the mid-travel mishaps.

Write It All Down

Make a very detailed checklist of all the things you will need and ideally start days before your travel date. Split your list into items you absolutely need like your medicine prescriptions to items that you might need. Make a list according to priorities, for example: you will absolutely need a pair of pants and comfortable shoes over a green stoned necklace that you might wear. Also know that some items like towels, hair dryer, shampoo etc… will be available at the hotel you will be staying at. So it is not an advisable thing to carry all this extra weight that you probably can do without.

Roll It

Roll it
This master tip will make you an organized traveler everyone is envious of. You should roll your clothes to save space. This is excellent for your jeans and t-shirts, things that tend to take up space. You can easily avoid folding lines by rolling your clothes. But you should not do it with formal clothes like dresses and suits. Also roll your socks and fit them on the sides of the suitcase for extra padding.

Copy Everything

Copy everything
Make sure you have copies of all our travel documents, passports, tickets, itineraries, hotel reservations etc… these things are likely to be lost during your travel and nothing can be more painful than not having ID in a strange land. Make sure you can these documents and email them to yourself too, in case you lose your handbag or phone, you should have these items in your inbox.

Save On Water

Save on water
We all have paid ridiculous amount of money for a water bottle on the airport. What’s the best way to avoid it? Bring an empty bottle through security. They will let you have a water bottle as long as it is empty and you can fill it once inside and save money on buying water.

Money Matters

Money matters
Before you travel let your credit or debit card company know that you are authorized for purchase, otherwise they will freeze your account when you make an international purchase. That can be highly inconvenient especially if you are not the sort to carry cash. Know the exchange rates before you travel to avoid any last moment surprises. Know the tipping etiquette of the country you are going to. It is a shame to spend extra where you did not want to and not tip appropriately where you should have.

Park Your Way

Park your way
Know the parking situation and charges of your airport before you arrive. Know which parking lot is closer to your terminal and if you are allowed to park the car for the night. Sometimes the rates are very high and it is better to take public transport.
