Travelling alone or with family, you always spend a considerable amount packing and unpacking. Forgetting something halfway across the world is extremely inconvenient, especially if you are not familiar with the new place. Looking for stores, finding replacements, it all becomes too overwhelming when you are with children and other members of the family. Here are some simple tricks to help you ease the pain of packing.
Packing a suitcase or backpack, rolling is the way to go! It saves a lot of space and is a lot more convenient than folding the clothes once. Rolling clothes also avoids deep wrinkles on the clothes and folding them can leave them with deep creases that you need to iron to remove.
Firstly, you should start packing weeks before the actual flight and it should be a gradual process. Make a priority list and break down your items according to your need. Make sure you have a separate list of medicines, allergy foods, baby items etc etc…
Always be very sure about the weight and size limit your airline allows for baggage. Otherwise you will have to pay a heavy fee as compensation. Most airlines allow a standard sized single bag on board but it is always good to be well informed. Also don’t carry liquids in your bags. This is firstly not allowed by the airlines and your items will be confiscated and it can also be a mess for you personally. Either pack your liquid makeup in your luggage or shift it to small 3 ounce bottles for clearance. This family vacation tip is for sure going to save you a lot of trouble at the airport. You can also keep an empty water bottle with you and fill it once you pass the security counter to save money on water.
If the laundry service at your hotel is complimentary then you are in luck, otherwise you will be spending a lot of money on laundry. Which is why you should always pack a travel sized detergent box, a sink stopper and portable laundry lines that can attach to bathtubs etc… this way you will be able to do your laundry anywhere and hang them to dry without having to spend all that money. This family vacation tip can also turn in a family activity!
This idea is not very hit with the public yet, but packing items that double into other items is an excellent idea. For example: pants that turn into shorts, shirts that turn into pillow cases etc… just think about all the space you can be saving.
For your own convenience and for the convenience of the security check staff at the airport, pack your suitcase in neat layers. Every layer should be divided in to essentials, fancy, sporty etc… however you choose to do it. This way not only will be able to browse through your garments easily, you will be able to find your items from your bag in an emergency too.
