Fiji is known for its natural beauty composed of rugged landscapes of blue lagoons, calm turquoise waters and palm lined white sandy beaches. The islands of Fiji are stunning and offer multiple activities for the visitor like mountain climbing, surfing and soft coral diving and zip-lining. It is a popular vacation destination for many people. Fiji Airways is the flag-carrier of Fiji and is based in Nadi. It flies to 10 countries and 17 cities around the Pacific Ocean including the US, Hong Kong and Oceania. In this article we review a flight experience with Fiji Airways Business Class.
The carrier in question was a Boeing 737-800. At present Fiji Airways has five of these planes in their fleet including 3 new Airbuses (1 is on order).
The seat has a pitch of 48 inches and seats are configured in a 2-2 configuration in the business class. They have a recline of 18 inches which is not much, especially if compared to other top business classes. Blankets are provided and the voiceover is rather pleasant to hear but as stated previously, the recline is nowhere near what one expects from business class. It is not uncomfortable however it isn’t near seating bliss either.
You are allowed 2 carry-on bags. These can weigh up to 7 kg each. The weight limit for the checked baggage is 30 kg.
The Airline states that 6 video channels are provided as well as 10 audio ones. However the system is rather old school and the attendant has to ‘change the tape’ for a different channel. Nothing can be paused. And sometimes the video system does not work at all.
The attendants are friendly and fairly helpful. However sometimes they lack for attention they give to the passengers.
The food is great, since the Airways now have a culinary ambassador in Lance Seeto – an Aussie Chef whose dishes provide ‘elements of Fiji on the plate’. The menu is nice in variety and superb in taste. This won’t disappoint you.
The Business Class passengers can access the Tabua Lounge at the Nadi International Airport. This lounge is a nice, relaxing and quiet spot where passengers can relax away from the hustle and bustle of the main airport’s crowds. It also offers complimentary Wi-Fi, drinks, snacks and even a shower.
The Business Class on this particular jet is not really worth the extra cost – too few amenities and limited comfort. However in the fleet’s new A330-200s, the business class will be a sight to see.
We hope this Fiji Airways Business Class review helps you on your travels.
