Japan is a busy destination and as a result its airports are busy all around the clock. It is a popular destination for millions of travelers each year who come to experience the immensely unique Japanese Culture. It also has a lot to offer on its historical front as well as sights to see. Business travelers also visit this country because it is a major power in the world economy with cities like Tokyo recognized as global financial hubs. So to cater for them, Japan has many airports. Here we look at the four international airports in Japan and routes leading out of them.
Located 60 kilometers east from Tokyo, this is Japan’s biggest international airport. To go to central Tokyo, you can either take a taxi, train or bus. For the train, the Narita Express, Skyliner, Cityliner are available. They take you to several stations including Tokyo Station, Shinjuku, Shibuya and Yokohama and several others.
The Keisei Line goes to Ueno and two routes to central Tokyo. The fasted limited express travels on the northern route. If you’re looking to travel quickly, Skyliner is your best bet and will deliver you to Tokyo is under 40 minutes. The Narita Express and Cityliner both take about an hour to reach central Tokyo.
As for the buses, the highway express bus Airport Limousine is at your disposal. It travels to the Tokyo City Air Terminal as well as several hotels in the central region of Tokyo. The usual journey with mild traffic can take about 60-90 minutes, however if it encounters heavy traffic the ride can be much longer.
This airport is located in the southern area of Tokyo and hence it is at a very convenient position for one to visit the city. It is also the largest among domestic airports in Japan and caters to a large number of domestic flights. The airport’s terminal is nicknamed ‘Big Bird’. To travel to central Tokyo from Haneda, there are two main methods. The Tokyo Monorail which goes directly to Hamamatsu-cho in the central Tokyo area. This takes around 25 minutes. The other option is Keihin-Kyuko line a privately owned railroad company which goes to Asakusa, Shingawa and Yokohama among several others.
The main international airport in western Japan, this is located 40 km southwest of central Osaka. This particular area has many popular and historic cities such as Kyoyo, Nara, Koyasan and Kumano-kodo. The Itami Airport near central Osaka has many domestic flights to different parts of the country. You can go to central Osaka via bus or by train By train your options are the limited express Haruka (JR line) and the Nankai Line. Both will take less than an hour to reach central Osaka. Kansa Airport Limousine is the bus service available.
It is located in central Japan and lies 30 kilometers south of central Nagoya. Nearby are Takayama, Shirakwa-go and Ise Shrine. You can travel by train to central Nagoya or by bus.
